HUNTER - X
“STILL HEART”
~Contrary to popular belief all Vampires are not all evil. They are all not the sun hating, innocent killing creatures that we have grown to fear. ~
If one looks hard enough
under every charcoal is the potential to be a diamond. If one looks up to the heavens one would see
each cloud holds a silver lining. The
same goes for everyone and everything around us.
It’s mid-day in the summer and the sun is blazing down from the sky, bearing its powerful rays to everyone not lucky enough to find shade. The park is surrounded by many people and was full of sounds. At one small corner of the park under the shade of a large oak sits two elderly men playing chess. Behind them a young teen sits watching the evenly paced duel of kingdoms.
He sits there quietly and if one looks closely they would see him drawing a picture of the two men. Besides him a small packed lunch and a small pencil case. The pace of the match was slow, yet this teen watched every move with careful and observing eyes.
“HELP!!!!!!!!”
Suddenly this solemn scene was broken as a sound of a girl screaming. Reacting to the commotion the teen jumps up and runs toward the source of the cry for help. After he got there he saw a young girl being pushed in to a dark Cadillac by two figures dressed in a business like fashion.
Not yet completely aware of the situation, the teen did what his instinct tells him. He jumps toward the car quickly gravitating towards one of the captors. The man pushed the teen away. The teen lunges back toward the man and by now acting with no logic grabbed the man throat and started to crush it.
Surely the man would have chocked if the iron grip were not released. Yet that act was not completely voluntary. Only after hearing the girl’s hears the cry for help did the teen got back to his senses. By now the Cadillac was speeding of, he ran after it. Though the car was quickly speeding off the teen was fast approaching the car.
He jumped and managed to hold on to the trunk of the car. The driver began swerving the car to loose this person who is frantically trying to hold on. The driver looks back to see if his attempts were successful and at that fraction of a second he looked a way, he lost control of the car and smashed into a tree.
The driver quickly goes out the car and points the gun towards the young hero.
“BANG!!!!!!” the gun fired off, yet the young man moved closer and closer to the driver.
“BANG…BANG!!!!!” two more shots yet the young man keeps his steady approach.
The driver sees that the young man is bleeding, but to see that this didn’t affect the teen scared him. The driver saw the young man wipe the blood of his chest and lick it off his hands. At that time the teen’s face changed. From nowhere his K-9’s grew longer, the demeanor of his faced changed. His eyes turned blood red and it seemed as if his very build grew bigger. The driver rushed off in fear of what would happen to him.
By now the teen could hear the sirens blasting coming closer and closer, he looks in the car and sees the young girl slowly gaining consciousness. Then it stuck him that he has not yet changed. With a mental trigger he reverts back to normal, if one could describe him as normal.
Still not sure if the girl was safe he stayed though he didn’t want any attention to himself. As the young girl gains full consciousness he was shocked to see a figure standing so close. As her vision cleared she realize it was not one of the men who tried to take her. After a few minutes of talking to the cops the two walked back to the park where the young man had left his belongings.
As they walk towards the park they talked.
“Hi I’m Tiffany,” introducing herself.
“I’m Paul, a pleasure meeting you,” he responded.
With that brief introduction the two walk off together.
The day was now closing and the two are still talking. They have talked about almost everything except why she was kidnapped. Knowing the Tiffany would never bring up the subject, Paul slowly manages to bring up the events that happened into the conversation.
It turns out that she was running away to gain her freedom fro her father who tries so hard to keep her from the outside world. Paul learns of her ambitions her dream, and her one shot to fame. Tiffany was chosen as a cast of a small Broadway production.
She was on her way to the show before everything happened. The two rode the subway and talked. She wasn’t sure what was it about him, but sitting so close to him made her feel so safe. The two reaches their destination, the Pagasa Theater. Paul sits in the audience and watches a wonderful performance by this girl whom he can’t take his eyes away from.
The curtain drops and loud cheers came from the audience. Paul walked towards the stage as the casts take their bow and hands Tiffany a rose. She tells him to wait outside while she changes and tells him she’ll be out in a minute.
Paul waits and an hour passes. Two, until the backdoor swings open. Tiffany walks towards Paul with a big smile. She was asked by an agent to perform some more shows with the thespian group and she accepted. Paul then hands Tiffany a picture that he worked on while waiting, it was a picture of her during the most dramatic part of the play.
“From my heart to yours,” he added.
The two are alone in this alley and their lips moves closer and closer. It was going to fast for both of them, yet no one said anything wanting to treasure this one sweet moment.
It is morning now and the two kept walking. They have been together for a whole day and yet they both feel as if they have known each other for a lifetime. They are now at the pier then suddenly the two lovers are stopped by the same men from, the park. Each one holding a gun and urging Tiffany to come with them so no one will get hurt. Paul pushes Tiffany back and quickly changes. The men started to rush towards Paul and he fends the off with ease. He turns to Tiffany to see if she is okay. As he turns around he forgot to change only thinking if she was safe. He begins to talk then suddenly his voice fades off seeing the shock that is coming from Tiffany’s face.
Tiffany moved back as Paul tries to come closer.
She cries out “What the hell are you?”
“A man,”
“No you’re a MONSTER,” those words echo in Paul’s mind and heart
She feels betrayed that this person that this person she grew so close to was not what she thinks. She feared him from his looks. She feels as if Paul lied to her… and as she beat on his chest crying all Paul could do was to ask her
“Look within your heart, am I any different?”
She continues her harsh words saying that he lied to her and never really cared.
Again Paul makes a plea to her. “Look into my heart and you’ll see how much I care”
Tiffany then turns away telling him, “A MONSTER has no heart.” and she runs off.
Paul couldn’t do anything but watch as Tiffany fades of into the crowd. He stares as she leaves his life for good. When he can no longer see her Paul kneels down to pick-up the picture that was given from the heart. He leans out into the sea from the pier and stays there pass the sunset until the night breeze was cool and he was alone. He looked down upon the picture and tore it apart, and walked of whispering
“You are wrong.”
