Raptor’s Tale

Yin-Yang Origin

4 - Going Solo

Now finally being the Raptor, JC’s boss finally allowed him to go at it alone, no surveillance and no commands blasting from the receiver placed in his ear, nothing of that sort.  That night he went out in his nightly routine, and at one tall roof he stood there in silence with no other voice except his own to contemplate his position and his responsibility.

“BEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPP BEEEEEEEEEEP…………………” a loud alarm blasted through that still quiet scene.  He ran off jumped of the roof and again just like his first time extended his wings and gracefully rode the air currents.

He landed, far behind the three figures that stood there retrieving what seemed from that distance to be a picture frame.  He realized that he stood on the roof of the Museum of Art where the Mona Lisa had been staying.  Without hesitation he ran towards the three shadows and at a fraction of a second when he got there, one of the three was already down and unconscious from a devastating kick.  One of the two still standing took off while the last stood in his place readying himself for a battle.  Raptor stood there watching the one who was running with the painting while the third took a swing at him.  Raptor managed to dodge the swing with ease; Raptor then jumped and kicked the thief square in the back of the head dropping him for the count.

Raptor ran toward where he last saw the one with the painting.  He reached the edge of the roof and saw nothing.  He was looking around when he saw a head peeking out from the roof of the building across.  He jumped and quickly grabbed the painting and performed a leg sweep causing the last thief to fall.  With the painting tucked safely at a distance he went to the fallen villain and tried to remove the mask.

A fight broke between the two.  Drawing a sword from its sheath, the villain pointed it at Raptor who jumped back and drew two short staffs and connected them together to form a five-foot Bo.  Each swing of the sword was blocked off and countered.  The police sirens were now blasting and a spot light pointed at the two dueling figures on the roof.  With a last swing the thief took off, but Raptor managed to get hold of the suit, but it gave way showing a tassel of long hair.

With the Mona Lisa at hand, he took his time to catch his breath as he went down stairs.  He handed the painting back to the museum curator, and proceeded to talk to the police.  “Did you get the two on top of the museum?” Raptor asked.

“No, there was no one there, only this” the police then handed him a note saying, “YOU PASSED.”  The note was signed with an emblem of the Grim Reaper.

Raptor asked if the police can run this symbol and if any known convict uses it.

“No need.  Only the Hunters use it,” the policeman replied a bit confused.  “This doesn’t seem right though, I mean the Hunters are the best of the best and they couldn’t have tripped the alarm.”

“Well we did put up the best alarm system just for an occasion someone tries to remove our guest here” the curator butted in.

“The Hunters can get in and out of Fort Knocks, the Pentagon, and the Presidents room with out a trace, and a simple alarm got them.  I don’t think so.” The policeman explained.

The curator then realized that that wasn’t their alarm system, because it did not register in their computers and also the room would have sealed itself.  So now Raptor was thinking these Hunters were putting him to the test.
